What a manufacturing ERP costs in 2026
Two of the seven ERPs in this guide publish per-user prices. The licence is rarely the largest line. Where the money goes, and how to keep the first phase contained.

Contents
Most manufacturing ERP vendors do not publish prices, and the ones that do publish only the licence. An analysis of more than 250 implementations released in June 2025 found that 45% overran their budgets and 51% overran their schedules, by an average of 30%1. The licence was rarely the reason.
What is published
| System | Pricing model | Published figures |
|---|---|---|
| Business Central | Per user, paid yearly | Essentials $80; Premium (manufacturing) $110; Team Members $8 a month2 |
| Odoo | Per user, all apps | Standard €19.90; Custom €35.90 a month billed yearly, first-year discount; Light User €7.903 |
| Acumatica | By applications and resources, unlimited users | No dollar figures; custom pricing review4 |
| OpenLazarus (AI layer) | Plan, hosting and support | Plans $100 or $300 a month; hosting from $150; engineering support from $4,500 a month56 |
| Epicor Kinetic, Infor SyteLine, Global Shop Solutions, JobBOSS² | Quoted | Not published in the sources we read |
Two details change the arithmetic. Business Central's manufacturing features are only available on Premium7, so the Essentials price does not apply to a plant that runs production orders. And Odoo's lower yearly price is a discount for the first 12 months for initially ordered users3.
A worked licence comparison
For a plant with 40 people who need full ERP access, published list prices give a simple floor. Business Central Premium at $110 per user a month comes to $52,800 a year2. Odoo Standard at €19.90 per user a month comes to €9,552 in the first year, rising at the regular rate after the discount ends3. Acumatica's figure depends on applications rather than headcount, so adding the 41st user changes nothing4. These are licence floors only.
What drives implementation cost
- Data migration. Items, BOMs, routings, open jobs, open purchase orders and inventory by location all have to be cleaned and loaded.
- Mode complexity. Each extra mode of production (job, repetitive, process) adds configuration and testing.
- Shop-floor collection. Terminals, tablets and scanner hardware, and the time to train operators.
- Integrations. CAD and PLM, EDI with large customers, shipping carriers and the bank.
- Your own people. Planners, buyers and the controller spend weeks on testing; few proposals price that time.
Phasing to contain cost
A first phase that limits risk
- Finance, purchasing and inventory first, on clean item data.
- Production orders and routings next, for one product family.
- Shop-floor collection last, once routings are trusted.
- A fixed price or a hard cap for each phase, with acceptance criteria in writing.
Where an AI layer fits in the budget
Work that sits around the ERP, such as quoting from past routings, purchasing follow-up and filing certificates, can be priced separately from the ERP itself. OpenLazarus publishes its prices: a plan at $100 or $300 a month with matching AI credits, managed hosting from $150 a month and engineering support from $4,500 a month56. For a mid-sized plant, engineering support is the dominant line. Its manufacturing page says the work is connected to the existing ERP, so it does not replace the ERP licence8.
Comparing proposals fairly
Put every proposal in one table: licences for five years, implementation, data migration, hardware for the floor, training, support, and the internal hours each vendor expects from your team. A proposal that looks cheap usually leaves one of those lines out. Our selection guide covers how to test fit before price.
Questions buyers ask
How much does Business Central cost for manufacturing?
Manufacturing in Business Central requires the Premium experience, which Microsoft lists at $110 per user a month, paid yearly. Essentials is $80 and Team Members $8. Implementation by a partner is priced separately, and agents such as the Sales Order Agent consume Copilot Credits.
Is Acumatica priced per user?
No. Acumatica advertises unlimited users and says its cost is based primarily on the number of applications implemented, adjusted for resource levels and data storage. It does not publish dollar prices; it offers a custom pricing review.
Why do ERP projects go over budget?
One 2025 analysis of more than 250 implementations found that 45% overran their budgets and 51% overran their schedules, by an average of 30%. The usual drivers are data migration, customisation, integrations and the time of the company's own staff, which proposals often leave out.
